On Sunday 31 August 2025, seven of our very own Vidas swapped their boots for sneakers and hit the streets of Perth for the 51st Chevron City to Surf for Activ – WA’s most iconic community fun run.
The idea was sparked by Claire and Shannon, who thought it’d be a brilliant way to bring the team together while supporting a good cause. Sadly, injury kept Claire from running on the day, but true to Vida spirit, she still showed up to cheer on the crew and keep the motivation high. Dani rallied the rest of the team, put the call out, and before long, seven Vidas were signed up and ready to roll.
Prepping for the big day
Once the team was locked in, we kicked off the LV Run Club Tuesday arvo training runs around Herdsman Lake. Some weeks the babysitters, weather and winter darkness got the better of us (we’ll call it “character building”), but plenty of the crew kept the training up in their own time.
Race day
Come event day, Perth turned on the perfect running weather – crisp morning air, clear skies, and sunshine waiting at the finish line. The crowd was buzzing, and the atmosphere electric, with a sea of runners stretching as far as the eye could see.
The course itself? Let’s just say those hills didn’t hold back. Oceanic Drive in particular had the team questioning their life choices. Every time you thought you’d hit the top, another incline appeared. But with Stu’s trademark encouragement (“no Vida left behind!”), the crew pushed through, step after step.
The results
Every single Vida made it across the finish line (no casualties, just a few sore legs). A special shout out to Phill Thompson, who smashed the 12km in just 54 minutes. Absolute machine.
What it meant
For Danielle, the experience was about more than the run:
“Running with the team to support a good cause and being part of such an iconic community event is a fantastic feeling. I hope we can get a bigger LV team together next year.”
And with plenty of laughs, encouragement, and maybe a little pain along the way, it’s safe to say the 2025 City to Surf won’t be the last time you’ll spot Team LV in the sea of runners.
