On October 31, 2025, La Vida’s own Shauna Arthur traded her work boots for boxing gloves, taking part in the RQCC Charity Boxing Event, and what a knockout night it was!
After seeing her teammate Disco Stu take on the same challenge last year, Shauna was inspired to follow in his footsteps. “I remember thinking how incredible the whole experience looked,” she said. “I’ve always loved combat sports and wanted to challenge myself in that space. So when the opportunity came up, I knew I had to give it a go!”
And go for it she did, raising an incredible $3,300 for Toybox Australia, a charity that supports sick and disadvantaged children across the country. “Knowing that my fight was helping to make a difference gave the whole experience even more meaning,” Shauna said.
Of course, stepping into the ring wasn’t easy. Shauna spent 11 gruelling weeks training up to six days a week, balancing life, work, and fight camp. “It was a huge commitment, both physically and mentally. I had to lose 5kg for the fight, which was tough, but the trainers and my teammates were amazing. Every session pushed me to my limits and taught me so much about discipline, consistency, and mental strength.”
When fight night rolled around, Shauna was calm, focused, and ready. “The atmosphere was electric. I was bout #8, so I had some time to soak it all in before my turn. I went to watch the first fight but soon realised I needed to centre myself, so I went back to my room to meditate and stay mentally locked in. When it was finally time to walk out and I heard my song start… the LV crowd went absolutely wild! The energy, the noise, the signs, the cheers, it gave me goosebumps.”
That energy clearly paid off. Shauna not only won her fight but also earned the title of Fight of the Night, an incredible achievement, especially considering her opponent was a Muay Thai champion and this was Shauna’s very first boxing match.
“It was everything I could have hoped for and more,” she said. “All the training and discipline paid off in the best possible way. But what made it truly special was knowing I’d done it for such a meaningful cause, and that I had the whole LV family behind me every step of the way.”
The night even came with a few laughs. “When you win, they put a championship belt on you for photos, but it’s not actually yours to keep! I was so caught up in the moment that I almost walked off with it before someone stopped me. I was still buzzing from the win and had no idea, it was hilarious!”
Looking back, Shauna says the experience was life-changing. “It pushed me far beyond my comfort zone and showed me what I’m really capable of when I commit to something fully. It gave me so much confidence and gratitude, and reminded me how powerful it is to have people in your corner who believe in you.”
Shauna also had a heartfelt message for the team:
“A huge thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this journey, from my teammates at La Vida to everyone who came along, cheered, or sent messages of encouragement. I’m so grateful for all the love and support I received. It truly made the whole experience something I’ll never forget.”
And as for what’s next? Shauna’s already looking forward to seeing who’s brave enough to step up in 2026.
“I’m still riding the high from it all, and I honestly can’t wait to see who takes on the challenge next year! It’s such an incredible experience, you’ll learn so much about yourself, and you’ll have the whole LV family behind you every step of the way.”
