Drafting after selections in all its glory
Moving your home from design idea to digital reality
Now we’re at the next stage in this remarkable journey, it’s time to talk about what happens after your selections — and yes, there’s quite a bit going on behind the scenes. Our drafting team gets to work turning all those choices into official plans. This is where your home moves from ideas and inspiration boards to detailed working drawings. In other words, your future home starts taking shape on paper (well… digital paper).
A peek behind the curtain
So what’s actually happening behind the scenes?
Our design and drafting teams begin reviewing all your documentation and selections to make sure everything aligns perfectly. Every line, symbol, note, and measurement in your plans needs to speak the same language. The goal is to ensure that when our trades arrive on site, they can interpret the drawings clearly and build your home exactly as intended. This stage is all about accuracy and coordination — making sure the design, selections, engineering requirements, and specifications all work together seamlessly.
While all of that is happening, you can sit back and watch the remarkability unfold.
A final review before construction
Once the drafting team has finalised your working drawings, your Customer Experience Specialist (aka the person making sure this whole process is as smooth and memorable as possible) will review everything carefully. They’ll check all documentation, variations, and addenda to ensure nothing has been missed.
Once everything is confirmed, the documents are sent through to you and your New Homes Consultant for final review and sign-off. At this point, construction is officially getting very close.
Dreams, plans, and working drawings
We know by now you’re probably itching to see construction begin. Trust us — we’re just as excited.
But before we can move forward, we need to make sure your working drawings are 100% complete. These plans are what allow us to:
- order materials
- schedule trades
- coordinate suppliers
- finalise construction timelines
All that daydreaming is slowly turning into a real, buildable plan. This stage generally takes around a couple of weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and selections. Once everything is ready, your documentation will be uploaded to your client portal so you can review it whenever you like.
One quick finance check
Before we move ahead, it’s important to make sure everything is financially ready to go.
If you selected upgrades during your selections appointment, you’ll want to confirm with your broker or lender that the funds are available to cover them.
Your broker can confirm whether the upgrades will be:
- included in your home loan, or
- payable separately.
This quick check helps keep everything moving smoothly toward construction.
A few final things to prepare
There are a couple of small but important items we’ll need before moving forward. These might include things like:
- land settlement being completed
- formal finance approval
- confirmation of utility accounts
- final documentation sign-offs.
They may seem like small admin tasks, but completing them early helps prevent delays in the construction schedule.
Ready to make moves
