For James and Jayne, building was about one pretty simple thing: they were ready to stop moving!
After years in the rental market, they wanted a home that was theirs – somewhere they could settle in, make their own and create a little more permanence for their family.
The kids had already called dibs on their bedrooms before the build was even finished, so you could say everyone was pretty invested.

Exactly nine months from slab to keys – and even quicker than James and Jayne expected.
They made plenty of changes to the original floor plan along the way (their words: “too many!”), from moving the study nook into the master bedroom to opening up the wall between the kitchen and kids’ area.
And through all those changes?
“La Vida were so accommodating. The whole process was so smooth.”
Communication got a 10/10, there were no hiccups to report, and the building portal meant they could easily keep track of everything as their home came together.
But some of their favourite parts had nothing to do with floor plans or finishes.
The kids got to sign the slab, have a go at bricklaying and be part of the build from the very beginning.
Core memories, made before they’d even moved in.
And their first meal in the finished home?
Hungry Jack’s, naturally.
Now you’ll usually find Jayne in the kitchen and living area, James working in the study, and the kids making the most of their own space – exactly as they planned.
