Michael was always destined for site. His father was a chippie and young Michael couldn’t leave school quick enough to join him. He finally left at 15 to start a career as a second fixer (that’s the person who fits your kitchen, bathrooms, and other internals like hooks and shelves), and 26 years later, young Michael is as happy with his decision as ever. He went on to spend 16 years in the carpentry trade (12 years running his own biz) before moving to site supervision 10 years ago. Does he miss his days on the tools? Nah. Now he says, he doesn’t miss anything—he’s there from slab day to internals day to handover day (the best day!).
