For something that keeps us safe and dry, we should really pay our roofs more attention!
• Sheet Roofing – Sheet roofing is super easy, just give it the occasional clean to keep it
looking nice, and you’re good.
• Tile Roof – Tile roofs are higher maintenance. You’ll have to check the ridge tiles and
pointing once a year, re-bed loose ridge tiles, and replace any cracked tiles.
The moment you spot a leak in your roof, get onto it and organise to have the problem fixed.
Before contacting the builder though, check that the gutters, downpipes, and valleys aren’t
blocked, or that neighbouring works aren’t causing the issue.
Also, (you probably guessed it) gutters and fascias near the coast should be washed every
three months.
